Poison Spider is today’s boosted creature, while Goshnar’s Malice is today’s boosted boss, sending hunters from the spider caves of Tiquanda to the deadly depths of Claustrophobic Inferno.
A Small Spider Has Become Today’s Big Target
Our field correspondent in Tiquanda noticed something unusual today.
The trails leading into the spider-infested ruins southeast of the jungle have become considerably busier, with adventurers descending beneath the vegetation in search of a creature that most Tibians would normally consider little more than an annoyance.
Today, however, the Poison Spider has everyone’s attention.
The creature may be small, but its venom has always made it more dangerous than its ordinary cousin. Poison Spiders attack at close range and can poison their victims, and their tendency to gather in groups makes them particularly unpleasant company for poorly equipped adventurers.
Our correspondent reports that the real attraction today is not the creature’s size, but the opportunity to make progress in the Tibia Bestiary while the Poison Spider is boosted.
Where to Hunt Poison Spider for Your Bestiary
For hunters specifically looking to complete the Poison Spider entry, one of the most interesting destinations today is the Tiquanda Spider Caves.
The cave system lies southeast of Tiquanda, beneath ruins that have been swallowed by the jungle. Poison Spiders can be found on the first underground level and continue to appear on the deeper floors, where they share the territory with Tarantulas and, deeper still, Giant Spiders.
That makes the location particularly useful for a dedicated Bestiary run: instead of finding an isolated Poison Spider here and another one there, hunters can remain inside a single spider-infested complex and keep moving through its levels.
There is, however, a warning from our Cartography desk.
The caves are not simply an open hunting ground. Access is connected to the Cartography 101 Quest, and the deeper sections become considerably more dangerous as Giant Spiders take control of the lower territory.
For hunters who want a simpler alternative, the Vandura Rotworm Caves, west of Liberty Bay, also contain Poison Spiders on the first floor. The area is designed as a hunting ground for adventurers who have recently left Rookgaard, making it a much gentler environment for characters who are still building their Bestiary.
The Poison Spider itself is classified as Trivial and requires 250 kills to complete its Bestiary entry, rewarding 5 Charm Points.
The Spider’s Old Reputation
There is little mystery surrounding the Poison Spider itself.
According to naturalists familiar with the creature, these spiders inhabit forests and caves throughout Tibia. They normally prey on smaller animals, but their venom allows them to kill creatures considerably larger than themselves.
Their real strength, however, comes from numbers.
A single Poison Spider may not frighten an experienced adventurer. A nest full of them is another matter entirely.
And that may explain why so many hunters are choosing the caves today.
A creature that normally lives in the shadows has suddenly become one of the most watched creatures on the hunting map.
Far From Tiquanda, Something Much Worse Waits
The second destination on today’s hunting map is considerably less welcoming.
Deep beneath the world of the dead lies Claustrophobic Inferno, where the name of Goshnar’s Malice still carries enough weight to make experienced adventurers check their equipment twice.
The boss is part of the Soul War and can be encountered in the Claustrophobic Inferno. Goshnar’s Malice has a 20-hour cooldown, and the encounter is surrounded by other dangerous entities including Dreadful Harvesters, Malicious Souls and Soul Cages.
And there is an important distinction for hunters searching their Cyclopedia:
Goshnar’s Malice is not a Bestiary creature.
The boss belongs to the Bosstiary, meaning today’s boosted boss is a very different kind of opportunity from the Poison Spider hunt.
The Man Behind the Malice
But the name Goshnar was not always associated with the darkness of Zarganash.
Long before the Soul War, Goshnar was known as Falnus, a member of the Nightmare Knights. He eventually became corrupted by the very evil he had sought to understand, rising to become the Necromant King and leader of the Brotherhood of Bones.
The Nightmare Knights eventually defeated him in the Plains of Havoc and sealed his body away, fearing that his necromantic powers could one day allow him to return.
That should have been the end of the story.
It wasn’t.
In Zarganash, the Flickering Soul reveals the darker truth: after wandering through the world of the dead, Goshnar had reached a form of peace and abandoned the idea of returning to the living world. But the rituals of those who worshipped him began strengthening the evil aspects of his soul.
Those fragments of malice gained enough strength to threaten a return.
And so the hunters of Tibia eventually found themselves facing the legacy of a man who had once been a Knight himself.
Two Boosted Targets, Two Very Different Hunts
Today’s Tibia News sends our correspondents in two very different directions.
In Tiquanda, hunters are crawling through spider-infested ruins, looking for 250 Poison Spiders and a handful of Charm Points.
Far away, beneath the realms of the dead, other adventurers are preparing for one of the most dangerous chapters of the Soul War.
One hunt begins with a creature small enough to overlook.
The other begins with a name that Tibia has been trying to bury for centuries.
Poison Spider is boosted today. Goshnar’s Malice is waiting below.
And our field reporters will be watching both.
